Dan Smith Gold Stratocaster
Model info: Originally named the Gold Stratocaster, it eventualy came to be known as the Gold on Gold (or Gold/Gold) due to the gold color body being fitted with gold hardware. It is not a member of the STRAT family (it does not have a matching headstock, “STRAT” logo, gold knobs, or the STRAT rotary switch). It is, however, a member of the short-lived early ’80s Collector’s Series and has a special serial number as a result (CAXXXXX). Shares some design elements with the Dan Smith: smaller headstock, no Bullet, CBS-style headstock logo, 4-bolt neck attachment.
Notes: Here’s some trivia: What other instruments were in the early ’80s U.S. Collector’s Series? Answer: Only one other six-string – the Walnut STRAT (CCXXXXX). The other members of the Series were Fender basses.
